Chapter Nineteen – Brazen

I groaned when my phone pinged with a message when I was nearly asleep. I half rolled over to grab my phone off the nightstand. Shit, a message from Mo. It had better be urgent to interrupt me at this time of night.

Mo: Problem. We need to head out to the warehouse.

Me: Important enough for me to head out to? I knew I must be present since I’m the club president. But I just had to yank his chain while I was at it.

Mo: You need to ask?

Me: No, but I had to yank your chain.

Mo: Hurry up, get your dick out of your woman, and get downstairs NOW.

Me: Oooh, shouty caps. You’re mad. I was asleep. Coming now.

MO: Yeah, sure. Remember that the walls are not soundproof around here.

Me: Yeah! Yeah! I’m coming down now.

I reluctantly extracted myself from her arms wrapped around my chest. “Sorry, baby, I need to go out. Urgent business,” I whispered in her ear. She groaned at me but didn’t stir from her sleep. I got up and sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing my eyes, then stood up. I retrieved my jeans off the floor and pulled them on. I grabbed a clean shirt and a pair of socks from the walk-in robe. I put them on and walked out of the bedroom, quietly shutting the door behind me.

I jogged down the stairs and met Mo in the main room. “What’s going on, Mo?” I inquired.

“There’s been a break-in at the warehouse, and the few men on patrol were injured. I’m sure whoever it was, they were sending a message. Since it appears that they didn’t bother to kill our men, we might have to up security there until we discover who it was and what they want.”

“Yeah. I have no idea currently who has a grudge against us. I haven’t heard any whispers of anyone having a problem with us. Well, not yet. We better head out there and take more men with us. You round them up, and I’ll meet you out the front. I’ll go out and have a quick smoke first.”

“Yep, they’re ready. Like you, they’re all grabbing a smoke out the back.”

“Okay, I better be quick then,” I grinned.

Before long, we were all assembled out the front, hopped on our bikes, and ready to go to the warehouse to see what was happening there. The place was messy when we arrived at our warehouse, with some boxes thrown around. Out in the front carpark, it appeared it was empty. However, when we entered the warehouse, we discovered a few of our men were lying injured on the floor. Doc was already here tending to their wounds.

“Mo, call one of the guys on the gate to bring the van out here so we can take the injured men home. They don’t look like they’ll be riding their bikes home. We’ll lock their bikes up here in the warehouse. We can return later to take them back in a van to the compound.
